Near You

I have slept in bed
for many nights
and now I cannot sleep
without you near
beside me love
at rest beneath these sheets.

With shallow breath
and waking eye
and plugging of the ear
We roll like waves
and reach all night
with arms that draw us near.

The morning hour
it comes to quick
with penetrating light
I close my eyes and reach
for five more minutes of this night.
